What i did in the holidays

On the holidays I went to my grandmas house to stay we walk up the road to ride our bikes and scooters last week she took us to the theatre royal to watch snow white the musical it was awesome I love my nana!!!

ONCE there lived a girl with a horse called horsey and the girl was called Olivia
one day the girl was walking horsey through the forest .then suddenly out of the blur
came a butterfly. horsey chased the butterfly Olivia pulls on the rains but horsey didn't stop.

Horsey gets lost and even worst Olivia couldn't find him

2 years later Olivia was catching fish.
Then out of the gloom Olivia herd a "Neigh".It was horsey!

Olivia ran to get him.

From that day on they NEVER EVER went into the forest again.

Then they lived happily ever after.

The seasons gone so fast and it's sad because it is ending.

We had two BBQs and that was fun. We were celebrating the end of the soccer season. It feels funny to not go to Wednesday practice.

I loved the season, it went so well. We all did well and I was blown away with everyone's skill. I loved Natalie's footwork; she worked so hard. So did the rest of the team. I love the way everyone has improved over the season, we all did well.

I'm not going to be writing about soccer anymore so don't be saying "Where is soccer by Pip" because I won't be doing them. It's been lovely - "I hope you liked them" she said.

We had another BBQ on Wednesday it was great. We had a sausage a drink (Two drinks actually!) A ice cream!

It was fantastico!

We got a cup for the team & a certificate and a big poster of the white ferns!

Natalie was there and we played on the play ground until I went home. I don't know when Natalie went home.

We played and played and we all had fun!

My little speech thingy:

"it is sad and disappointing that soccer is ending.
We have had a good term.
Winning, loosing and drawing. We all love soccer!

I hope I do it next year. Soccer is one of my favourite sports.
It is so fun and you can play it at home with your friends, all you need is a ball.

Adventures at sea

At club penguin 3 friends are talking about Rock Hopper the pirate. One of them was wearing a striped t-shirt and belt. He was planning to stow away on board. While his friends were keeping Rock Hopper busy he sneaked on the pirate ship and hid in.........read the book to find out.

In this book you get to choose your own parts out of it to make your own story . In my story, the penguin heard a voice say “What do we have here” and woke up to see Yarr, Rock Hoppers puffle and Rock Hopper in front of him. I joined the crew and we saw a sea monster. The cap’n asked me to “go find me some fruit”. However, I got stones instead of fruit, you will have to read the story to find out why. At the end of my story Rock Hopper said “I know an island where I could trade these stones for bananas. Good job mate.” So I guess he will get his fruit after all. But if you read the book, your story will probably be different .

I liked this book because I got to choose what I wanted and when something does go wrong for me I go back and change it. It was cool reading this book because I have a Puffle and its pink so I like reading about Puffles.

This book would suit girls and boys of years 3 and up

"We are going to have a BBQ on Saturday after Soccer. The team are doing it because it is our last game and we are going to celebrate. Every one is going to go to claudia's house to do it. hopefully every one will be there.

We have had a better year than last year.

I am looking forward to the last game. but it is very sad.

I love soccer it is my favorite sport!y

We did practice yesterday.

Natalie wasn't there but I bet she will be there on Saturday.

I hope every one will be there on Saturday because it is the last game!

We were focusing on dribbling the ball. Dribbling the ball means kicking the ball softly so that it doesn't go so far in front of you.

We did a drill that you dribble the ball to the other side of the field and back again. Then we did a similar drill, you dribble to the other side of the field then when the coach (my Dad) said "Stop!" you left your ball and went to the other side. Then when you came back you got the ball and dribbled it to the other side.

It was Poppy's birthday so we sang happy birthday to her.

My Dad who is the coach said that I did great shielding I think that I did to.

I'v got 7 players in my team. Billy, ( I think thats how you spell it.) Poppy, Harriet, Claudia, Meg, Me and Natalie. In the picture they are all there but Poppy, who missed out, is not.

Next year I want an all girls team!

Zac Power !
Spy Camp Zac Runs Wild
By H. I. Larry

Zac is a 12 year old boy who works for a spy group called GIB. His code name is agent “Rock Star”. Zac’s partner is called agent “Fang”. Her real name is Anna. He also has a brother called Leon and he is a spy too. In every mission Zac always has a special gadget.

This book is about Zac’s training at spy camp. He learns to use different gadgets like the shooting star which helps him swing out of danger and the animal tracker. If you touch the animal on the animal tracker it feels real. I really liked the bit where they swung across the creek with their star belt to get away from the mother lion . Zac & agent Fang also get to ride in a super speedy machinery snake . The snakes mouth is the door.

I like the Zac Power books because they don’t have real coloured pictures. The pictures are just shadows and so you don’t really know what they look like. You have to imagine what they really look like. I really like the book cover cause Zac’s shadow makes the A in the word Zac. Sometimes there are bully’s in the books and I don’t like them.

This book is an easy chapter book and I think it would be good for 6-9 year olds. Boys would like this book and also girls who like adventure or mission stories.

I was half way through the book with the class, and I got my own book of it! I started where we were. I liked the ending of it because I won't tel ou 'cos' you can read it yourself. Roald Dahl is a very cool writer. I like Roald Dahl books hes got Danny the Champion of the world, The chocolate factory, "the twits", Charlie and the great glass elevator, The Giant Peach, The Witches, The BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox, georges marvellous medicine. I rate that 10 out of 10. It was quite good.

It's got big letters. Its sort of new beginners on chapter books. Its a series of Billie B Brown. Just look for it. They have 43 pages. I liked the books but they had tiny chapters in the. They were 12 pages long!
She tells a lie and everyone does want to be her friend but then Lola says 'you're fibbing' by Sally Rippen.

Then the next day a kereru slammed into a window and took it`s turn too.

And that’s how the middles and seniors and juniors got there names and
The woodpecker and hummingbird just became constellations because they flew up to heaven and turned into stars.

GOLF We have been doing Golf with a Golf Coach it has been really fun.We did this activity where we had Hulla hoop and tried to hit the ball into it if we got the ball in we got 1 point if it was in front of it we got 4 if it was touching the hoop we got 2 and if it was beside the hoop or behind it we got 3.We had teams of three and took turns hitting the ball we added up our points all together and figured out the total amount our goal was too get a lower score than last time my teams(my team was Lillymae and Jack) lowest score was 20 added up all together.My lowest score individually was 4 i got 1 once and 1 again then 2. The idea in golf is two get low scores instead of high scores the lower scores you get the better chance you get of winning.

My first mountain climb.

On Tuesday I went on a tramping trip to Mount Arthur. When We were ready to walk to the hut I met a girl called Isiah. She was from Ngatimoti and she was going to the Flora hut.

When we were walking to the hut we saw four birds. Two green ones and two Wekas. In the bush it was amazing and it felt like the Avatar forest. When we got to the hut there was one man there from France. I had fun building a fire with my dad .

The next day we climbed up some hills to find Mount Arthur . It was a heavy walk and it was also a liitle bit scary. The last bit was too steep for me so we had a rest and then went back to the hut. We had lunch and next we walked to the Flora hut .then we went home.

I carried my own pack which isn’t that much fun. Next time I am going to try and get to the top.

Making honey on the Scorrar Ranch!

What an exciting weekend we had as we raided our hive for the first time. The bees weren't too impressed as we took the frames dripping honey from their home. Our first step after retrieving the frames was to use the hot knife to take the outer layer of wax off the frame. We then put the frames into a large barrel and Cassie spun them around (which caused the honey to fly off and onto the wall of the drum). Then we just poured the honey out and wow, lots and lots of honey!

rabbit island picnic

On friday we went to rabbit island for a picnic, it was fantastic. We had a stick race where we lay on our tumys and ran to grab a stick. We went swimming then we had lunch. There was a big sand bank and lots of people were rolling down it some other people were climbing trees and others were in the bush.
We went for 2 swims in one day Tiarne and Meila went up to the point where we can not touch the
ground. Waves went over there head we drunk lots of sea water we made sand castles. Tiarne and Meilas castle came down down down . Tiana and yasmina were helping us after we had another
swim. Me and Tiarne went to Mr neal where the water went up to his neck and it was over our head.
When we got back to our lunch box and drink one of the teachers called out lunch time so we all came down then after that we went for another swim man that was a fun day.

Parent Meeting

At the start of the year children will be tested on:
Essential spelling lists, math strategies and knowledge, basic facts, reading comprehension and reading level. They will also write a story and have their structure, ideas and punctuation looked at.

In class we will learning about:
Reading - comprehension, native bird research, making their own dictionary, spelling patterns
Writing - narratives (opening, structure, characters, settings)
Planning using flowcharts and brainstorms
Art - drawing and sketching and makng clay tiles of Kereru - (to hopefully make into a class logo)
Maths - algebra, addition, subtraction, x, /, basic facts
Mathletics- basic facts and activities based on other parts of maths (like algebra, geometry, measurement) Visit : mathletics.co.nz to have a look.
PE - swimming
Spelling - children will learn about word families and sounds. On Monday children will have words to learn in their spelling notebooks. You can add words from same family if you wish. They will then be tested on friday and new words added to their notebooks.

Homework - It is expected that your children read every night whether it be a school book or a book of their choice. Make sure they fill in their - home reading diaries too!
Children will also need to learn their spelling words and basic facts (mathletics is great for this)

We visit the school library every Friday

During the first world war a pigeon named che ami saved the lives of many french soldiers by carring a message across the enemy lines in the heat of the battle chr ami was shot in the chest and most of the leg which the message was carrying but got the message home safly.

Building Bridges

At camp we did bridge building. In my group we made 3 models. Our first model was a failure our second model was ok, but our 3rd was great. We got the baby across first time and it was so great that Charlotte made us carry Theo and surprisingly it worked. Then we showed the class.

Abseiling

Abseiling is a form of roping yourself down from a mountain top or a canyon rim.
Abseiling is fun to do and helpful from hunting to hiking.
Unfortunately the down side to this exhilarating sport is that it causes 25% (1 of 4) climbing deaths. Mostly from not securing an anchor, or not putting your harness on properly when going down canyons mountains and steep embankments. So for budding abseilers remember safety tips and bear in mind that these tips can save your life.
